Sudan army rapes S Darfur girl alternately in front of mother

An 18-year old girl was raped alternately inside her home in a South Darfur camp by two officers of the Sudanese army (SAF). The abusers reportedly took turns in holding the victim’s mother at gunpoint and raping the girl.   The assault took place on Sunday afternoon in one of the camps in Girayda town called Foreeka, an activist told Radio Dabanga.   He complained about the repeated abuses the government and militias carry out against the displaced, “in particular women”. The activist demanded that authorities and UNAMID protect camps’ residents and bring perpetrators to justice.Photo: A Misseriya woman stands in front of a thatched shelter in Goli, Sudan, March 2009 (Tim McKulka/UN)
