‘Sudan Armed Forces repulse rebel attack in South Kordofan’: spokesman

The Sudanese army reported that its forces repulsed an attack by the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-N) on villages in South Kordofan on Tuesday. According to the spokesman for the Sudan Armed Forces (SAF), Col. El Sawarmi Khaled Saad, the army repulsed an attack by “the outlaws” on the villages of Belinja and El Atmour on Tuesday morning. In a press statement, Saad reported that 50 rebel fighters were killed, and that the army troops seized a large number of equipments and vehicles. The spokesman stressed that the SAF is in “full control on the situation in South Kordofan, and ready to continue its operations to wipe out the rebellion in the state”. On Monday, the SAF and SPLM-N traded accusations of attacks in the South Kordofani localities of Kadugli and El Buram.
