Student killed, two injured in South Darfur shooting

A 12-year-old basic school pupil was killed and two secondary school students injured in a shooting at Ottash camp near the South Darfur capital of Nyala.

A 12-year-old basic school pupil was killed and two secondary school students injured in a shooting at Otash camp near the South Darfur capital of Nyala.

One of the sheikhs of the camp told Radio Dabanga that the militiamen raided a shop at Centre 4 of the camp at 8 pm on Tuesday. When the shopkeeper’s 12-year-old son Abdullah Ismail confronted them, they shot him dead.

The sheikh added that secondary school students Abdullah Yousif and Dictor Mohammed were seriously wounded in the shooting. They were transferred to Nyala hospital for treatment.

In a separate incident, a young man named Haroun was shot dead on Zango Street in Nyala Valley on Tuesday evening.

A witness said the slain young man clashed with three Rapid Support militia members who were harassing and beating a girl. When Haroun intervened to defend her, they shot him dead.

Women, baby crushed

A mother and her baby died and another woman was injured after a mud room collapsed on them in the Ashirayah area of Yassin locality in East Darfur. The collapse was the result of heavy rainfall.

Snake bite

On Wednesday, Hawa Mohammed Juma from Dali village of Eastern Jebel Marra, died after being bitten by a snake as she worked her farm near the village.
