Mohamed was preparing for his secondary school examination.“Six armed men wearing military uniforms ambushed him on the street and shot him. He was taken to Zalingei hospital and died from his injuries on Tuesday morning,” one of the witnesses told Radio Dabanga.The coordinator of Zalingei camps accused the security services of masterminding the attack and said that the refugees had informed the United Nations African Mission in Darufr (UNAMID) about the attack.In a similar incident last week, a student was killed in a shoot out in the Zalingei market.The coordinator of the camps added that armed gunmen fired bullets in the air on Monday afternoon around children who were playing ball in Zalingei’s Hamidiya camp. The sound of the firing raised fear among the children and led to panic among them.“The gunmen fled to the forest near the camps on Monday. The security service is behind this incident. We informed the UNAMID about this, but they did not arrive on time for helping out,” he said.

Armed gunmen dressed in military uniforms opened fire on a Darfuri refugee student in West Darfur’s Zalingei camp on Monday, witnesses told Radio Dabanga.

Nasreddin Adam Mohamed, the deceased, was shot while he was on his way back to his home in Zalingei’s Khamsa Dagayik camp after meeting his colleague for a study session on Monday night. Mohamed was preparing for his secondary school examination.

“Six armed men wearing military uniforms ambushed him on the street and shot him. He was taken to Zalingei hospital and died from his injuries on Tuesday morning,” one of the witnesses told Radio Dabanga.
