Stray bullets kill girl in Central Darfur

A girl was fatally hit by stray bullets, fired by army troops in Nierteti locality, Central Darfur, on Tuesday. A relative of the victim told Radio Dabanga that Um Gasi Saeed (15) was killed in the area of Kouri, north of Nierteti town. “Soldiers of a military convoy, on its way from Nierteti to Jebel Marra, were firing heavily into the air when they passed Kouri. She was hit by some bullets, and died instantly.” He urged the authorities to “immediately put an end to the repeated assaults and abuses by army troops and government militias, stationed in large numbers near Nierteti”.
