23 trainee soldiers got killed, and 90 were wounded, of whom nine had to be taken to Khartoum, in bad weather, in West Darfur. On Tuesday, a bolt of lightning struck a metal container. It housed soldiers of the Reform and Liberation Movement (RLM), who, recently, came to a peace agreement with the government in El-Geneina.

Yasser al-Tayyib, spokesman for RLM, told Radio Dabanga, that the victims resided in this metal container, in training center “15” of the Sudanese Army, in El Geneina. He said, that the storm led to the collapse of this housing container. He, further, explained that the group of trainees was following a military training, which will enable them to integrate in the regular Sudanese Army. A protocol in the agreement between RLM and the government, stipulates these security arrangements, and at the moment the first group is being trained.
