Stored medicines worth $2bn expire in April

Medicines for filariasis, a parasitic disease, worth $ 2 billion being stored in Khartoum are about to expire, a medical source has said to Radio Dabanga. The medicines are being kept by the Ministry of Health in storage in Khartoum and are due to expire in April, rather than being distributed to filarisis sufferers in other parts of the country where it is needed the most, said the source. Many people are reported as suffering with filariasis in Daein locality, South Darfur, unable to access medicine, increasing the risk of the disease spreading and becoming more critical.
