SPLM secretary being held without charge

The Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM) acting chairman for the state of West Darfur, Khalid Abdullah Derrija was arrested on December 14th and remains in custody, said Suleiman Isaac, the secretary of the SPLM for South Darfur to Radio Dabanga. The secretary stated that Derrija is yet to be charged by the authorities or taken to trial, and they are refusing any access to a lawyer, or his family. He continued to voice fears that the chairman is being tortured in captivity but not allowed to seek treatment for his injuries. Isaac said that he calls on all civil society and human rights organizations to press for the release of Khaled Abdullah Derrija.
