The Sudan People’s Liberation Movement, which previously had announced a boycott of the presidential elections and the polling in Darfur, today extended their withdrawal to all levels of voting in all states of North Sudan.

In a meeting still ongoing in Khartoum, party leaders settled on a comprehensive boycott, according to one of the participants who spoke to Radio Dabanga. Those attending the meeting include SPLM Secretary General Pagan Amun, presidential candidate Yassir Arman, other candidates and leaders of SPLM Northern Sector. The chairman of the party, Salva Kiir Mayardit, is not present.

The Umma Party is expected within hours to announce their decision on whether to reverse their boycott. The party leader earlier gave signs that they may participate.
