South Darfur’s Buram tense after Abbala-Habbaniya clashes

At least ten people were killed and dozens wounded in armed clashes between Abbala and Habbaniya tribesmen in Buram locality in South Darfur on Sunday evening. Speaking to Radio Dabanga, multiple sources reported the clashes between the two tribes on Sunday and renewed clashes west of Buram Town on Tuesday. Hamed Ali Jubeir Aby Ghurra, a notable of the Habbaniya told Radio Dabanga that Abbala herdsmen released their cattle on farmland of a Habbani. When he tried to stop them, the Abbala shot him dead on the spot. “The Habbaniya responded and the clashes developed.” Abu Ghurra described the situation in the area as very tense.
