The alleged murderers of three men in Nyala, capital of South Darfur, last Saturday belong to the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF), according to relatives of the victims.

On Saturday evening, three gunmen shot and killed Ahmed El Tijani, Abdel Majed Suleiman, and Abubakar Mousa in Nyala’s El Salam district. They reportedly wanted to steal their mobile phones.

A relative of one of the victims told Radio Dabanga that the suspects who have been arrested, Hamdan Mohamed Idris, Ahmed Hassan Adam, and Yousef Adam are members of the RPS, commanded by the security apparatus.

The South Darfur head of the police, Maj. Gen. Ahmed Osman Kheir, has announced new measures to curb the rampant criminality in the state that include intensification of police patrolling and the fixed stationing of police forces.
