South Darfur IDPs struggling to acquire citizenship

Residents of Salam internally displaced persons camp (IDP) in South Darfur have complained about the difficulties they face in relation to the process of obtaining citizenship. Camp administrator Ibrahim Abdul Rahman Yahya, said the lack of documents amongst the displaced is resulting in depriving many students from sitting university exams and achieving graduate certificates. He said this is causing students to lose their rights to education as well as opportunities to work with organizations working inside the camp. Yahya called for the Ministry of Interior Affairs and South Darfur governor Hamad Ismail Hamad to intervene to solve these issues, and asked them to allocate a day for IDPs to obtain their documents.
