A displaced farmer in Nyala locality, South Darfur, was seriously wounded by two militiamen on Thursday. In eastern Chad, a resident of the Gaga refugee camp was shot in the foot in an armed robbery.

“The militiamen attacked Hassan Kenan Redwan, as he was working on his land in the area of Shanji, about 10 kilometres east of Kalma camp,” a witness reported to Radio Dabanga.

“They beat him severely with rifle butts, sticks and whips” he said. “He was transferred to the hospital in a very serious condition”.

Ishag Abdelkarim Ishag, a Darfuri refugee living at Gaga camp in eastern Chad, was injured on Tuesday in an attack on his home.

A camp resident told Radio Dabanga that four armed men attempted to raid Ishag’s home. “They fired at him and he was shot in the foot. The attackers fled when neighbours who heard the shooting arrived on the scene,” he said.

The next day, when the robbers attempted to plunder Ishag’s house for a second time, security forces were able to capture three of them.
