South Darfur committee measures against tribal strife

The security committees of Tullus, Buram, and Dimsu localities in South Darfur commenced a series of meetings to develop measures to prevent new clashes between Fellata and Salamat tribesmen in the area.
The commissioner of Tullus locality, Ibrahim Abakar Shamna, informed Radio Dabanga said that the committees discussed the possibilities to “develop a lasting solution for the repeated armed conflicts between the two tribes”.

The commissioner of Tullus locality, Ibrahim Abakar Shamna, informed Radio Dabanga that the committees discussed the possibilities to “develop a lasting solution for the repeated armed conflicts between the two tribes”.

He said that they decided on the formation of “a mechanism to heal the rift between the two tribes by addressing the grievances about compensation and blood money. In addition, strict security measures will be taken in the event any tribesman or a group of tribesmen attempts to create chaos”.
