Six youth leaders of the Habania tribe have been arrested in Buram locality on charges of incitement to violence, South Darfur police say.

According to South Darfur police chief Mohammed Hassan, authorities arrested the tribal youth leaders and transferred them to the capital, Nyala.

Hassan says than the six defendants “sought to bring a rift between the Salamat and Habania tribes”. As members of the ‘young Habania militants’, they denied the Salamat access to Buram town and its markets.

He threatened that any similar offenders will be arrested, brought to justice, and imprisoned.
