Sit-in dispersed at Sudan’s Imam El Mahdi University

Students of the Imam El Mahdi University in El Gezira Aba, central Sudan, staged a sit-in on Friday.
The students demanded the improvement of the study environment and the activation of the University’s students’ union, one of the protesters informed Radio Dabanga.
“Agents of the National intelligence and Security Service (NISS) stormed the campus and dispersed us with batons and tear gas,” he said. “Dozens of students were detained, and released later that day.
“On Sunday, security agents evicted students from the boarding house. They detained Mazen Mohamed Abakar.”
The source added that the University’s administration today summonsed Abdelhalim Mohamedein and Ahmed Ibrahim to appear before a Commission of Inquiry on Wednesday.
