Shock increase in Sudan’s customs rates
The Sudanese government has introduced a sudden increase in the customs US Dollar price, as well as port fees, to the dismay of clearing agents.
On Tuesday the government raised the US Dollar rate from SDG6.2 to SDG6. The Euro rate was raised in ports from SDG7.14 to SDG7.25.
Custom dealers and clearing agents have expressed surprise at the sudden increase, which they said was reflected on transactions from Tuesday.
The official US Dollar rate quoted by the Central Bank of Sudan is SDG6.0771, and the rate for the Euro is SDG6.9795
