Security forces ‘beat and arrest several displaced’, C. Darfur

Security authorities reportedly arrested and beat a number of displaced persons from Garsila camp, Wadi Saleh locality in Central Darfur. A source from the camp told Radio Dabanga that two armed officers, allegedly named Saddam and Ahmed, stormed Ardeeba camp in Garsila on Saturday evening and arrested and beat ‘whomever they came across’. When the security officers were confronted by a group of young camp residents, they called for back-up. The back-up arrived in three Land Cruiser vehicles.A camp resident claims that the security officers beat the young men and arrested several of them.
