SAF: 17 SPLA-N soldiers killed in El-Moreib clashes

Colonel El-Sawarmi Khaled Saad, official spokesperson of the Sudanese Armed Forces, announced that the Sudanese army killed 17 rebel soldiers in El-Moreib area, about 29 kilometers west of Abbasiya in South Kordofan. He confirmed that one SAF soldier was killed and another nine were injured. The Colonel added that SRF rebels blocked the road between Abbasiyah and Abu Jebiha and occupied the village of El-Moreib, raising their flag. In addition, they occupied the police station and moved all the equipment to their station in Abu Hassan area. El-Sawarmi said his troops moved towards El-Moreib area after the rebels looted the market. The troops fought the rebels and managed to drive them out of the area. On the other hand, SRF announced killing 61 SAF and pro-government militias’ soldiers, and injuring dozens. Arno Ngutolo Lodi, SPLA-N spokesperson, affirmed defeating SAF and pro-government militias’ troops on Friday August 24. He added that his troops seized large quantities of weapons and ammunition. Ngutolo confirmed the loss of five SPLA-N soldiers and injuring seven other soldiers. The battle caused the exodus of more than 5000 citizens from El-Moreib area.

Ngutolo confirmed the loss of five SPLA-N soldiers and injuring seven other soldiers. The battle caused the exodus of more than 5000 citizens from El-Moreib area.
