Refugees and IDPs angry at UNSC inaction

Refugees and displaced people are angry at the UN Security Council’s lack of action in implementing the international arrest warrant issued by the International Criminal Court for president Omar Al Bashir, the defence minister Abdul Rahim Muhammed Hussein, South Kordofan governor Ahmed Haroun and Janjaweed militia leader Ali Kushayb. Residents of displaced camps in Darfur and refugee camps in Chad said the Security Council’s inaction has encouraged genocide and war crimes to continue in Darfur and extend to South Kordofan, the Nuba Mountains and Blue Nile state, with civilians suffering at the hands of the same people still in power. They called for the UN to take decisive action and adopt the proposals put forward by ICC prosecutor Luis Ocampo in his latest report to the Security Council on Tuesday.
