Formations of the Sudanese People’s Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-N) have seized substantial materiel after they ‘heavily defeated’ contingents of the Sudan Armed Forces (SAF) in a battle near Mufu in Blue Nile state yesterday.

“Our formations heavily defeated the government forces and militias in Mufu,” he said. “After the battle, the government troops randomly dispersed, some cross the border into Ethiopia, and others fled to Kurmuk.”

Lodi says the initial tally of materiel seized includes 55 vehicles. Five tanks, two D-30mm artillery pieces, an excavator, as several lorries, armoured personnel carriers, and Land Cruisers (see pictures above and below).

The human casualties on the government side must still be assessed, but Lodi says the SPLM-N suffered only five wounded.
