Rebels seize materiel in battle with Sudanese army

Formations of the Sudanese People’s Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-N) have seized substantial materiel after they ‘heavily defeated’ contingents of the Sudan Armed Forces (SAF) in a battle near Mufu in Blue Nile state yesterday.

SPLA-N official spokesman Arnu Ngutulu Lodi, told Radio Dabanga that SPLM-N forces of the ‘2nd front Blue Nile’ under the command of Maj. Gen. Ahmed Alomda Bade, and 2nd command Maj. Gen. Joseph Tuka, engaged the government forces at 6 am on Tuesday.

“Our formations heavily defeated the government forces and militias in Mufu,” he said. “After the battle, the government troops randomly dispersed, some cross the border into Ethiopia, and others fled to Kurmuk.”

Lodi says the initial tally of materiel seized includes 55 vehicles. Five tanks, two D-30mm artillery pieces, an excavator, as several lorries, armoured personnel carriers, and Land Cruisers (see pictures above and below).

The human casualties on the government side must still be assessed, but Lodi says the SPLM-N suffered only five wounded.

Bombs fall on Kujurshabia

At 5 pm on Monday, an Antonov of the Sudanese Air Force dropped 13 barrel bombs on Kujurshabia in Heiban locality, South Kordofan, wounding two women and a child.

Lodi told Radio Dabanga that Kocho Kodi Hussien (9), Aliya Salim (56), and Asia Hamdan Kuku (34) were injured in the attack, that struck terror into the area’s population.

Children die in Darfur's Jebel Marra

At 11 am on Monday, an Antonov dropped about 15 bombs on the Foli and Koti mountains south of Golo, western Jebel Marra, killing 7-year- old Abdul Azim Adam Yousif and wounding his brother.

Witnesses in Darfur also reported to this station that government troops once again bombarded the Golo. Shama Mohammed Ishag (25), and Kombi Osman Mohamed Adam (14) died, and 11 other civilians were wounded.
