Rebels claim attack on govt. forces in Darfur’s Jebel Marra

Fighters of the Sudan Liberation Movement led by Abdelwahid El Nur (SLM-AW) allegedly attacked government forces north of Golo in Jebel Marra on Sunday.
SLM-AW combatant Shihabeldin Ahmed Haggar told Radio Dabanga that the rebels killed and wounded a number of government troops in clashes in the areas of Guldo and Sabanaga.
They also seized “quantities of weapons and ammunition”.

The tops of the Jebel Marra mountain range are used as operating bases by the SLM-AW to attack military sites the areas of Guldo and Rokoro.

The military spokesman for the movement, Mustafa Tambour, was detained, together with two other SLM-AW members, by government agents in East Darfur on Friday.
