Last month, a group of people in Ed Daein staged a protest in front of the East Darfur parliament against “the repeated sexual harassment of women and girls by officers of the National Intelligence and Security Service (NISS)”.

The protesters demanded the expulsion of security agents from the residential districts of Ed Daein and the closure of the NISS hostel in El Arab district that is located near a secondary school for girls.

One of the activists told Radio Dabanga that the police questioned Faraj Ibrahim Wadi and El Sayed Kusheib for several hours about the memorandum the protesters handed to the Central Darfur government and parliament. Activists Hasabelnabi Mahmoud and Osman Musabel were also summoned for questioning.
