Rebel forces destroy garrison, shell another in South Kordofan: SPLM-N spokesman

The Sudan Revolutionary Front (SRF) announced that the combined forces of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-N) and the Sudan Liberation Movement, led by Abdel Wahid El Nur, on Wednesday destroyed the military garrison of Dalami, Habila locality, in South Kordofan. Arnu Ngutulu Lodi, spokesman for the (SPLM-N) reported to Radio Dabanga that on Wednesday afternoon SRF forces attacked the Dalami garrison in the north of Nuba Mountains, causing heavy losses to “the government forces”. The rest of the army troops fled, Lodi said. Lodi added that on the same day SPLM-N artillery shelled the military garrison of Um Burambita in Rashad locality in South Kordofan.   Col. Sawarmi Khaled Saad, the spokesman for the Sudanese Armed Forces announced that the army “advanced into the strongholds of the insurgency” and recently achieved many victories over the rebels in South Kordofan, “liberating a large number of areas”. Saad on Tuesday told the media that the Sudanese army troops achieved the first phase of the military campaign against the insurgents in the eastern part of the Nuba Mountains. The next phase will cover the western part of the mountains.
