Pro-government militias clash: one gunman dead

A gunman was killed during clashes between pro-government militias at Mawashi market in Kabkabiya, North Darfur on Monday October 8, eye-witnesses told Radio Dabanga. A source from the region told Radio Dabanga that the incident took place at around two o’clock in the afternoon, at the Kabkabiya’s livestock market.The shooting followed a chase between two groups of pro-government militiamen, both driving Land Cruiser vehicles. The clash and exchange of fire resulted in the death of one of the militants. The source confirmed that the clash and exchange of fire between the two militias lasted for approximately an hour. He added that it caused widespread panic and fear among residents merchants, students and pupils, who all fled the scene. The police entered the market after the militants left and took the fatal victim’s body to the morgue, the source added to Radio Dabanga.
