One dead, two injured, in Darfur attacks

A member of the Sudan Armed Forces was killed and another injured in an attack by militiamen on Disa garrison in Kutum locality, North Darfur, today. In West Darfur, militiamen attacked a police post in Habila locality, West Darfur, on Tuesday morning. Multiple sources reported to Radio Dabanga that a group of militiamen in a number of vehicles attacked the garrison of Disa at about 9 am this (Wednesday) morning. In a clash with the guards of the garrison gate, one guard was killed. Another guard was transferred, in critical condition, to Kutum hospital. The sources claimed that the attack was a reaction to the killing of a herder some weeks ago. He was shot dead by an army soldier, when he refused to withdraw his livestock from farmland in the area. Janjaweed “A group of Janjaweed on camels and horses, firing into the air, attacked the police post of Luwei village, north of Habila town at 11 am on Tuesday. Janjaweed

“A group of Janjaweed on camels and horses, firing into the air, attacked the police post of Luwei village, north of Habila town at 11 am on Tuesday. They beat and whipped the policemen and people present, a villager reported to Radio Dabanga.

“The head of the post, Hamza Adam, was seriously injured, and had to be taken to El Geneina Hospital for treatment.”

The villager added that a government force from Habila intervened, and “drove these outlaws away, before they could finish ravaging the post.”
