One dead, five injured by Border Guards vehicle at North Darfur market

One woman was killed and five others injured on Monday when a Border Intelligence Brigade vehicle collided with a number of shoppers at the vegetable market in Kabkabiya, North Darfur.  A listener told Radio Dabanga that he saw forces of the Border Intelligence Brigade (known as Border Guards) in nine vehicles mounted with Dushka machine guns, passing the vegetable market of Kabkabiya “at extremely high speed”. One of the vehicles ran into a number of citizens, killing Kaltouma Musa Abakar instantly, and injuring five others, four of them critically. They were taken to the hospital of Kabkabiya for treatment. Their names are Nima Osman Adam, Mona Abakar Ismail, Abdel Rahman Mahmoud, Idris Ahmed Abakar, and Islam Eisa. Eisa’s hand had to be amputated. The witness said that other customers stopped the vehicle when the driver wanted to flee, although the Border Guards were firing into the air to disperse them.
