Omdurman court sentences rapist of three children to death

The Family and Children’s Court in Omdurman issued the death sentence against the man convicted of the rape of three boys.

The Family and Children's Court in Omdurman issued the death sentence against the man convicted of the rape of three boys.

The court that sentenced to man to death by hanging was headed by Judge Ibrahim Hassan El Tahir. Attorney-General Omar Ahmed Ahmed Mohamed told the press after the court session that he is confident the proceedings have been fair.

“The defendant has been granted all constitutional rights and was represented by a body of lawyers to defend him,” he said.

The convict is a 30-year-old man and shopkeeper. He was has been accused of raping, threatening and photographing the three brothers.

The family discovered the rape by coincidence, when the children talked to each other about it.
