A huge fire broke out in Djabal Camp for Sudanese refugees in Eastern Chad on Thursday, resulting in the destruction of 27 houses completely, while 17 homes were pulled down after the owners feared that they too would catch fire. The fire destroyed the belongings of the refugees, including refugee cards, relief distribution cards and their financial savings. One witness from the camp told Radio Dabanga that close to 200 people have lost their homes and are now forced to live in the open. He appealed to aid organizations to take the necessary steps to immediately provide the aid needed by those affected by the fire.
