Murders, robberies by ‘pro-government militias’ in Darfur

A displaced man from Hamidiyah camp in Central Darfur was allegedly murdered for his motorcycle by “pro government militiamen” on Sunday. Abdusalam Mohamed Hassan (27) was on his way to visit relatives in the Abata area, about 10km east of Zalingei, capital of Central Darfur, one of the sheikhs of the camp told Radio Dabanga. “The militiamen attacked Hassan and killed him outright,” the sheikh said. “Other displaced people found his body later.” The sheikh said that Hassan will be buried in the Abata area on Tuesday. Camp Riyadh A resident of Riyadh camp near to El Geneina, capital of West Darfur, was allegedly murdered and robbed by militiamen while returning from tending his farm on Sunday afternoon. A relative of Mehdi Hamid Isaac Mohamed (27) told Radio Dabanga that “three militiamen opened fire on Mohamed and killed him outright, before robbing him of anything of value”. The relative confirmed that a case has been opened with the police, but lamented that “they have no moved to prosecute the perpetrators”. A displaced man from Hamidiyah camp in Central Darfur was allegedly murdered for his motorcycle by “pro government militiamen” on Sunday.

Abdusalam Mohamed Hassan (27) was on his way to visit relatives in the Abata area, about 10km east of Zalingei, capital of Central Darfur, one of the sheikhs of the camp told Radio Dabanga.

Camp Riyadh

A resident of Riyadh camp near to El Geneina, capital of West Darfur, was allegedly murdered and robbed by militiamen while returning from tending his farm on Sunday afternoon.

A relative of Mehdi Hamid Isaac Mohamed (27) told Radio Dabanga that “three militiamen opened fire on Mohamed and killed him outright, before robbing him of anything of value”.

The relative confirmed that a case has been opened with the police, but lamented that “they have no moved to prosecute the perpetrators”.

He appealed through Radio Dabanga to the authorities to pursue and arrest the perpetrators and bring them to justice.
