Armed robbers have shot dead a motorcyclist in Sirba locality, West Darfur. In another armed robbery on a road in Kabkabiya, North Darfur, a passenger was shot, and others were injured.

Motorcyclist Yagoub Ibrahim was attacked by three armed men on Saturday, east of Kendebe camp, when they attempted to steal his motorcycle between Abu Rumail and Jakma in Sirba. The coordinator of the camps for displaced people in Sirba reported to Radio Dabanga that the perpetrators demanded Ibrahim to stop. When he refused to do so, they opened fire on him, killing him on the spot.

Ibrahim had just visited his family, the coordinator said. The incident was reported to the police, however, they have not yet moved to hunt down the perpetrators.

An armed gang in Kabkabiya, North Darfur, managed to intercept two vehicles loaded with firewood on their way to camp Zamzam, near El Fasher, on Monday. One of the six passengers said that the gunmen opened fire on the Land Rover and Hilux vehicles east of Khartoum Jadeed, to stop them. One of the passengers was shot in his leg.

The perpetrators severely beat the passengers, the victim said, and robbed them of SDG1,500 ($248).
