Militiamen kill displaced woman, attack others in South Darfur

Militiamen attack a group of displaced people in Bielel locality. Their attempt to rape a women result in killing her, and injuring her husband.

A displaced woman was shot dead in Bielel locality, South Darfur, on Thursday, while six others sustained injuries at the hands of pro-government militiamen.

A witness informed Radio Dabanga about the incident. Two members of a pro-government militia attacked a group of displaced people from Otash camp in Nyala locality. The group was on its way to Ishma to tend farmlands. The militiamen on camels ordered them to lie down and beat them.

One of the two tried to rape the 30-year-old Zakiya Abakr. When she resisted, the militia members shot her dead on the spot. Her husband was also shot in one of his legs and his head.

The names of the wounded displaced people, including one woman named Hawa, are Abdelrahim El Tahir Abdelaziz, Osman Abdallah Mohamed, Bashir Mohamed, Tayeb Abdallah Mohamed, and Abdelrahman Mohamed Gamaruddin. Their injuries vary in conditions.
