Reconstruction

Meanwhile the First Vice President, Hassabo Mohamed Abdelrahman, has reiterated the State's commitment to the reconstruction of East Jebel Marra and the Mershing-Malik-Deribat road on Monday.

Abdelrahman addressed a rally in Deribat where he announced the formation of a special trust fund for the reconstruction of East Jebel Marra. He committed to donate SDG10 billion to the fund.

East Jebel Marra has been a stronghold of the armed movement and was the scene of the heavy military offensive against the rebels in early 2016 and preceding years. Deribat is east of Korona, near Golo, where a peace agreement with prominent dissidents of the rebel SLM-AW was signed this month.

Furthermore the Ministry of Health was instructed to provide health centres and train 300 midwives during the year 2017. The Vice President announced to build five additional dams, digging ten water wells, and twenty pumps in the area of Deribat.

Finally Abdelrahman instructed to open a police station in East Jebel Marra and appoint 300 Popular Defence Forces and police personnel.
