Meat ‘intoxicated by bombs’ kills 4, poisons 82 in C. Darfur: rebels

The rebel group Sudan Liberation Movement-Abdel Wahid (SLM-AW) announced that four children died and 82 people were poisoned after eating meat from cows that drank water intoxicated by bombs in Central Darfur. SLM-AW military spokesman Mustafa Tambour said the cases were registered in the villages of Suronok, Jildu and Barzani, near Golo in the West Jebel Marra area. Out of the 82 infected, 20 are rebels and 62 are citizens, he added.According to him, the Sudanese air force bombed water sources near these communities, poisoning the water and consequently the animals that drank from it and those who consumed their meat.The spokesman appealed to humanitarian organizations and to the international community to put an end to the government’s systematic targeting of water wells with toxic bombs and to provide medicine to those infected.Radio Dabanga file photoSee also: Rebels claim seizing military base in C.
