Mayor: Death toll of clashes Habbaniya and Salamat rises to 134

The death toll from the clash between people from the Habbaniya tribe and Salamat tribe in South Darfur reached 134 people from both sides, as reported by Mayor Abdullah Madani of the Salamat tribe.

The death toll from the clash between people from the Habbaniya tribe and Salamat tribe in South Darfur reached 134 people from both sides, as reported by Mayor Abdullah Madani of the Salamat tribe. The mayor — or ‘omda’, as he is titled in Darfur — told Radio Dabanga that of the Salamat about 12 people died, and 6 were wounded in one clash. Of the Habbaniya, 96 people died in the clashes that took place in the area of Annadif Alskhalh. The mayor said that in other clashes that took place between the groups in the region of Aslaah, 26 people were killed, 7 of Salamat, and 19 of Habbaniya.

Salah Ali Nazer Nazer of Habbaniya confirmed the clashes in the areas of Annadif Alskhalh. Salah said that the matter is now under control, pointing out that there are regular forces of the government that are on their way to deploy in the conflict zones.
