Man tortured to death, two raped in Darfur’s Jebel Marra

An abducted man was tortured and killed in Fanga, in the Jebel Marra area, on Friday. He had been kidnapped with seven others. Two girls were raped in East Jebel Marra on Sunday.

An abducted man was tortured and killed in Fanga, in the Jebel Marra area, on Friday. He had been kidnapped with seven others. Two girls were raped in East Jebel Marra on Sunday.

A relative of the man told Radio Dabanga that the eight people were abducted by bandits on 23 May. Six of them were released on 31 May and reported that Yousef Idris Mohamed Saleh was tortured to death. The eight victim, Hamid Khamis, is still missing.

The abducted people were taken hostage to Tarny mountain, southeast of Fanga, where they remained day and night for eight consecutive days. They were forced to admit to stealing cattle of the abductors.

Rape

Gunmen raped two girls in Timro in East Jebel Marra on Sunday. A relative of one of the victims said that the girls of 17 and 18 years were attacked when they collected hay. The attackers were riding camels at the time of the attack.

“We brought from Timro to their village them in a bad physical and psychological state. They are being treated with traditional medicines.”

Abduction

In Central Darfur, gunmen abducted a man on Sunday from Bindisi in Central Darfur, and seized a commercial vehicle. A witness told this station that a group of armed men, riding motorcycles and horses, opened fire on a vehicle on the road of Bindisi.

The vehicle was a write-off after the attack. Passengers were robbed of their money and luggage, and the robbers seized Omar Adam.

The witness said that the police was informed about the incident; however, they was unable to arrest the perpetrators.

Livestock theft

Militiamen on camels stole dozens of cattle from Fanga, south of Jebel Marra, on Sunday. They opened fire in the vicinity of livestock owners, before reportedly stealing at least 233 sheep and 42 cows from the herders.
