Man killed in Saraf Omra

A man got killed and another got seriously injured as a result of an attack carried out by a pro-government militia in Wadi Bari, east of Saraf Omra, North Darfur, a relative of the fatal victim told Radio Dabanga on Thursday, 1 November. He explained that about seven pro-government militiamen tried stealing the motorcycle of Adam Khater at gunpoint as he was on his way back from his farm in Wadi Bari to his home village in the area of Krokele. Following the incident, Khater reportedly returned to his village and gathered a crowd to chase the perpetrators. Once the perpetrators were found and ambushed, the crowd opened fire against them.In response, militiamen also opened fire, killing Khater and seriously injuring Mohamed Younis, onlookers recounted.   Local residents complained to Radio Dabanga about the continuous abuses and violations carried out against them by pro-government militias in the past month. They said the violations, at least 10 last month, include murders, rapes and looting.
