LJM-Wafi ‘kill 10 Sudanese troops’ in East Jebel Marra ambush

Defectors from the Tijani Sese-led Liberation and Justice Movement (LJM), claim to have killed ten government troops during a battle with the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) in the area of Amarjadeed, East Jebel Marra. Witnesses from the area confirmed that the battle took place with the breakaway faction named LJM-Wafi, after its leader Ibrahim Jibril Abu Wafi.  Speaking to Radio Dabanga Wafi said his group ambushed the SAF troops on Monday, as reprisal for air raids carried out by the Sudanese Air Force on civilians in East Darfur on Sunday. He claimed that, apart from killing ten SAF troops, they seized two Land Cruisers.The LJM is signatory to the Doha Document for Peace in Darfur (DDPD), which was signed in Qatar in 2011.Field commander Ibrahim Jibril Abu Wafi of the LJM West Sector, announced last June that he and a group of 374 soldiers of his faction had split from the mainstream-LJM.
