LJM urges refugees to support Doha treaty

President Sese says the US invitation to Washington is an effort to persuade non-participating groups to join the peace agreement

President Sese says the US invitation to Washington is an effort to persuade non-participating groups to join the peace agreementDr. Tijani Sese, president of the Liberation and Justice Movement (LJM) told Radio Dabanga on Monday, that he wants all Sudanese refugees in Darfur and South Kordofan to lend their support to the Doha Peace Agreement.

He requested for cooperation with his group’s work in implementation of the convention in an interview with Radio Dabanga.

He said the LJM is ensuring involvement of all Darfuris in the implementation of the peace deal signed between the faction and the Sudanese government in July, earlier this year. Sese categorically denied there being any initiative put forth by the US to resolve the deadlock in Darfur.

Radio Dabanga had reported last week about an invitation by the US to all Darfuri groups and the Sudanese government to meet in Washington in September. This move by the US has been welcomed by various opposition groups who have stayed out of the Doha agreement.

Sese, who met Dane Smith, US senior advisor on Darfur, said that the offer made by the American is most likely to persuade the various factions to participate in the Doha treaty.

Sese added that will be back in Khartoum after Eid ul-Fitr.
