LJM rebels battle militia in Mukjar, W. Darfur

The Liberation and Justice Movement yesterday claimed that its forces had repulsed an attack by a group of border guards in the Hajar area of Mukjar Locality in West Darfur. Mokhtar Abdelrahman, the military commander of the Liberation and Justice Movement (LJM), told Radio Dabanga from the area that the attack resulted in the killing of 18 of border guards and the capture of 4 others.

The Liberation and Justice Movement yesterday claimed that its forces had repulsed an attack by a group of border guards in the Hajar area of Mukjar Locality in West Darfur. Mokhtar Abdelrahman, the military commander of the Liberation and Justice Movement (LJM), told Radio Dabanga from the area that the attack resulted in the killing of 18 of border guards and the capture of 4 others.Among the captives was a man named Abushanab, whom the rebels identified as one of the leaders of the Popular Defence Force in Arawala area of Wadi Saleh.

 LJM is the only rebel force currently in peace talks with the Government of Sudan. It has already signed a ceasefire and framework agreement. The loosely united rebel coalition is supposed to sign a final peace deal by mid-December, according to the timetable set by mediators.
