Kutum: army, border guards tension kills 2 soldiers

Tensions between the Sudanese army and government border guards left two soldiers killed and four injured in Kutum, North Darfur, on Wednesday, 26 December. The shooting took place around five o’clock afternoon, at the Al-Misseriya neighborhood, Radio Dabanga reports. Sources recounted that the border guards tried to escape from the area in two cars. However, the army rushed after the attackers as they were moving in the northwestern part of Kutum, and both sides began exchanging fire, they continued. In the meantime, local citizens began seeking shelter in their houses and all shops at the Kutum market were closed. Kutum has become a militarized zone after the killing of a commissioner in the locality.
