Mindaoudou, acting head of UNAMID, Joint Chief Mediator for Darfur. Speaking on behalf of the splinter movement’s transitional council, Wafi Bashar, spokesman for the military council of the movement, confirmed to Radio Dabanga the splinter group signed a declaration with the GoS. He also stressed that the cease fire intends to create a climate of dialogue, pointing out they agreed with the mediators to open some files and start negotiations based on the document’s framework. Wafi revealed the movement will return to Doha to negotiate all files with the GoS after the holidays, he added to Radio Dabanga. JEM For its part, JEM spokesman, Jibril Adam Bilal, told Radio Dabanga that the movement does not recognize the splinter group nor is it represented by it. He added JEM does not recognize the peace agreement signatories. In addition, Bilal said its predictions were correct when the movement stated that those who sign peace agreements with the GoS do so in exchange for jobs. He also said that signing a cease-fire with the GoS is ‘ridiculous’ as the group does not even have ‘fire to cease’. Bilal lastly stated that the SRF and JEM, who are currently fighting government forces in Darfur, South Kordofan and Nuba Mountains and in Blue Nile will not stop fighting until they bring down the regime in Khartoum.Related content: JEM splinter faction in Doha (19 October 2012)
