Insecurity in South Darfur capital: One man killed, gunfire

Witnesses told Radio Dabanga that the attackers opened fire on a shopkeeper at El Geer district when he refused to hand over his money and mobile phone.

Neighbours told a military patrol, stationed near the scene of the incident, but these did not go after the culprits.

An exchange of gunfire between paramilitary fighters and policemen in Congo street in downtown Nyala resulted in the wounding of two residents the same day.

The Commissioner of Nyala North, Ismail Yahya, said that a misunderstanding between the groups erupted in an exchange of gunfire. The two residents happened to be on the roadside when they sustained their injuries.
