Infrastructure for Abu Sufyan oil field in East Darfur completed

The Sudanese Ministry of Oil has announced the start of tests of the first oil wells at the Sufian field in Abu Karinka locality, East Darfur.
Dr Mohamed Zayed Awad, Oil Minister of State, told Sudan News Agency (Suna) on Monday that pilot operations have begun at Jad El Seid, after seismic surveys, conducted by the ministry, revealed the presence of oil reservoirs in the area.

The Sudanese Ministry of Oil has announced the start of tests of the first oil wells at the Abu Sufyan field in Abu Karinka locality, East Darfur.

Dr Mohamed Zayed Awad, Oil Minister of State, told Sudan News Agency (Suna) on Monday that pilot operations have begun at Jad El Seid, after seismic surveys, conducted by the ministry, revealed the presence of oil reservoirs in the area.

He affirmed the completion of the field’s infrastructure, including electricity power lines, and the pipelines, “with a total length of 64km”, linking the three drilling stations with the main processing station.

The Minister of State said that the new Abu Karinka wells will gradually enter the production phase this year, expecting them to form the first new oil produces in 2015.
