IDPs accuse Chamber of Commerce in N Darfur of selling overpriced food

Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) from the Seraf Umra camp in North Darfur accuse the Chamber of Commerce of selling them food rations above market price. A camp leader told Radio Dabanga that an MD food container costs between 8 and 10 Sudanese Pounds (SDP) at the market. The Chamber of Commerce sells it for 13 SDG. The IDPs also complained about the delay of the Chamber of Commerce in distributing the food rations. Sheikhs from the Seraf Umra camps told Radio Dabanga this issue is going on since the beginning of July. They also said that last week they refused to buy food from the Chamber of Commerce because of the high prices they asked for it. So far, the IDPs have not received their food rations. They are now asking for the intervention of the World Food Programme so their suffering can end.
