Displaced people living in the camps around Zalingei, capital of Central Darfur, complain of not receiving food rations since October 2018, and called on the World Food Programme (WFP) to provide food for them.

El Shafee Abdallah, Coordinator of the Central Darfur camps, told Radio Dabanga that only 3,500 camp residents out of a total of more than 50,000 have received food rations once since October.

He explained that WFP justified the delay by shifting from direct food to cheques with which people could buy food themselves.

He asked the WFP to deliver food to the displaced people who have no sources of income.
