Hepatitis outbreak in Abu Hamed, northern Sudan

Residents of Abu Hamed in northern Sudan’s River Nile state complain of an outbreak of hepatitis that has lasted more than two months.
“At least 11 young people were infected with the disease last month. Another one died in a hospital in Khartoum in early December,” a worried listener told Radio Dabanga.
He said that many people in the area are concerned that the outbreak may become an epidemic. They demand that the federal and state Health Ministries intervene immediately and send teams to provide assistance to the patients.
