Gunmen search Khamsa Degaig for camp leaders

Five gunmen on Monday night stormed a refugee camp in Darfur searching for camp leaders. The gunmen at Khamsa Degaig IDP Camp injured one person in a shooting, witnesses told Radio Dabanga. The gunmen were searching for eight leaders of the displaced. Witnesses said the gunmen searched for them by name, house-to-house. They did not find any of them.

Five gunmen on Monday night stormed a refugee camp in Darfur searching for camp leaders. The gunmen at Khamsa Degaig IDP Camp injured one person in a shooting, witnesses told Radio Dabanga. The gunmen were searching for eight leaders of the displaced. Witnesses said the gunmen searched for them by name, house-to-house. They did not find any of them.An apparently similar event occurred earlier this month when death squads entered Hamadiya Camp and killed three of seven camp leaders sought by authorities for arrest.

One of the leaders of Khamsa Degaig said that the displaced have informed the UN-African Union Mission in Darfur about the incident and gave them the names of the gunmen who stormed the camp.
