Gunmen kill farmer, rob trader in South Darfur camp

In the area of Hameida, nearby Nyala, the capital of South Darfur, a resident of Dreige camp for the displaced was reportedly killed by unidentified gunmen.

A youth representative of the camp told Radio Dabanga that a number of camp residents left for their farmlands on Sunday evening.

When they arrived at Hameida at about 3am on Monday, they were attacked by gunmen, who opened fire on the farmers, killing Adam Omar Shaddad on the spot. The attackers fled to an unknown place.  

In a separate incident in the camp, four gunmen robbed Yasir Omar Abdelbanaat, owner of a shop for a mobile phone credit transfers. They stole four mobile phones and fled.

The youth representative appealed to the security services and Unamid to intensify their patrols to protect the displaced.
