Gunmen injure three in North Darfur

Three residents of Hai El Mawashi camp for the displaced in Kabkabiya, North Darfur were seriously injured on Thursday in an attack by government-backed gunmen east of Kabkabiya city. A witness told Radio Dabanga that four government-backed gunmen wearing military uniforms intercepted a Nissan loaded with straw and firewood at gunpoint on Thursday evening 5km east of Kabkabiya city. There were six camp residents on board. “The gunmen beat the displaced with rifle butts and whips, wounding all of them and seriously injuring Hussein Adam, Adam Ishag and Musa Abakar,” the witness said. The gunmen then drew fuel from the vehicle. People in the neighbourhood rushed to the scene and transferred the injured to Zalingei hospital for treatment, and pointed out that they had reported the incident to Unamid.
